So, where to start?

My name is Nicolas (they/them), and I am a 23-year-old Game Design student at an art school. I’ve been obsessed with game design ever since I was a kid making prototype board games in paper and writing pages of ideas in my notebooks. I even made a point-and-click adventure game in Powerpoint, which then 11-12 years later I had to do again as a school assignment.

I love talking and writing about games, and since there is only so much ranting about obscure indie games about a pixelated clown or something that my friends and relatives can take, I am going to share my thoughts with the world!
In this blog, I’ll aim to put a lens on specific smaller aspects of games and see what they tell us about game design and how to make better games in general. Since I like making games and writing stories as well, expect some self-promotion here and there between blog posts as well (hey, you gotta get your name out there somehow)

I already have a list of topics to cover, ranging from flavor text, jumpscares, singleplayer fighting games, representing games within games, and several random card games I am fascinated with for some reason that I will analyze. I’m a fan of writing short stories as well, so expect stories unrelated to games to pop up here. I’ll be tagging which posts are writing-related and which are game-related.
I’m always open to suggestions and feedback, so if you have any subjects you’d like me to cover, feel free to let me know!

XOXO,
Nicolas
